Club Secretary Required

Role of club secretary

The role is much easier than previous years as majority of communications and actions now come via FA Whole game system. This is a prompt that something within the club needs action – such as a course is running out of date for a coach. Affiliation is also done via the system now rather than sending reams of paper. With everything up to date Affiliation takes no more than 15 mins twice a year. The club secretary is the main point of contact for FA and leagues – from our email account the information can be sent direct to appropriate coaches. The role takes on average no more than 1-2 hours each week to keep on top of – if you are interested in taking over this key role please contact Nick on 07740023465 – a full hand over and ongoing support will always be available

Club Treasurer Required

Role of Club treasurer

The role is to make sure we keep a good track of all income and outgoings across the club – with the standing orders for all players now set up the role is more checking than dealing with cash from match fees. You would work closely with the club committee and coaches to agree spend and deciding on future fees.

If you feel this is something you could help the club with, please get in contact with us.

We Won – SFA 2016/17 Affiliation Draw

Correspondence from Somerset FA:

Thank you for affiliating your club with Somerset FA this season, while this is a mandatory requirement to play in a league we are grateful that clubs carry out this task correctly and as early as possible. We are aware that with the advent of the Whole game System over the last couple of seasons this has changed the process dramatically and its pleasing that so many club secretaries have bought into this system and used it enthusiastically; while the system is still new and developing it will ultimately have a huge benefit to all of us in the administration of football.

Each season, as a way of recognising those clubs that affiliate early and efficiently, Somerset FA hold a draw for those clubs that affiliate by the deadline; I am pleased to tell you that the following clubs have been drawn and have won this year:
• Portishead Junior
• Purnell Sports
• Bridgwater Wolves
• East Coker Cockerels
• Avishayes Combe

This season as part of a partnership with Bownet Soccer UK, they have supplied us with their 5’x 3’ training nets and your club will receive a pair of these goals, worth over £150, as your prize. These nets are small portable goals that can be assemble in approximately 1 minute and used on any surface, they are ideal for club training sessions, both indoor or outdoor.
